What You Will Learn and Practice:
Mermaiding theory through PADI eLearning online study.
Proper handling and use of mermaiding equipment.
Fundamental water safety skills, including recovery breathing at the surface, cramp release (self and partner), and emergency removal of the tail and monofin.
Safe use of a weight belt and weights.
Learning and practicing three essential breathing patterns for safe breath-hold diving.
Static apnea safety and performance training.
Dynamic apnea safety and performance training, including swimming at least 25 meters (75 feet) underwater on a single breath and providing safety support for other dynamic apnea performers.
A variety of mermaid movements and tricks, such as dolphin kick, back swim, underwater swim without goggles, U-turn, C-turn, back loop, buoyancy control, and bubble drawing.
Required Equipment: Mask, snorkel, monofin, and mermaid tail.
All equipment can be rented from the instructor or a local scuba shop. Advance reservation is recommended.
Prerequisites:
You must be at least 12 years old.
You also need to be able to swim 100 meters (320 feet) without swim aids and float comfortably at the surface for at least 10 minutes.
